Discrimination in Society: Why Being Queer Makes Life Harder

Being Queer is difficult! We face hate and discrimination every day. We are stigmatized by society, which limits our ability to succeed. While conservative rhetoric has it that being Queer means mental illness, which leads to difficulty in society, the fact is the opposite is true. By stigmatizing the Queer community, conservative rhetoric virtually guarantees we will perform worse than unstigmatized people...and that can lead to mental health troubles.

Is conservative rhetoric aware of their contribution to society's dysfunction? I certainly hope not, but let's discuss how stigma affects the Queer community and how we can try to mitigate it in our lives.
