Who Gets to Decide What Queer History Our Children Learn?
New words do not indicate new experiences
What do religious conservatives fear when they suppress Queer history? If they can predict a person's identity at conception, shouldn't Queer history only be a blip on the greater human story?
But the truth is that Queer history is not just a blip. Queer experiences span the entire volume of written history, even if it isn't taught in school.
To explain this visceral response to the Queer community, I'm joined by Courtney, a Queer historian dedicated to keeping our stories alive on her @ThatOneTransChick Channel. Let's talk about what Queer history exists and why we need to preserve it - not just for the children in Western society, but for the benefit of humankind.
We'll talk about:
☑️ Queer Archives: what history already exists in plain sight?
☑️ Modern Revision: is history being rewritten to serve Christian Nationalism?
☑️ Do Your Part: how can we all get involved to keep Queer history alive and accurate?
